ay Lopata Fine Art
Print Dealers specializes in European and
American Works on Paper from the Belle
Epoque to the Art Deco Period. The partners
labor over their collection and have
acquired a vast quantity of exquisite
prints. Their collection includes treasures
by well-known artists such as Sonia
Delaunay, Alphonse Mucha, and James Whistler
but all of the pieces in their inventory are
superlative.
The partners gather adoring new clients at
each print show; admirers perch over the
pieces trying to absorb each detail. The
prints are often small and sometimes
untitled, but they tell enticing stories and
are precious to the new owner. It is the
goal of Kay Lopata Fine Art Print Dealers to
provide the ability for the established
collector as well as someone new to the
expertise to find something that inspires
them.
In an effort to entice an even larger
audience they took it upon themselves to put
up a website at a time when the dot.com buzz
was luring everyone to the internet. Their
site did indeed bring them international
clientele and soon they found that the web
was a fantastic way to show off their small
prints in a personal way.
When it was time for them to launch an
expanded site Kay Lopata Fine Art Print
Dealers came to SeedyPumpkins for a more
professional treatment. We provided a
romantic design in keeping with their
subject matter; and managed to create a
border from elements in their prints to
frame the site's content. We organized their
content, and cross-referenced the artists,
bios, and images with each other to make for
a more seamless user experience. The color
palette is soft without being too feminine
and thus alienating any of their male
audience.
Having had maintained the website on their
own for many years, it was important for Kay
Lopata Fine Art Print Dealers to have
control over updating their own site. They
had made frequent changes in the past;
finding that juggling prints always allowed
their clients to see something fresh.
SeedyPumpkins created a Admin area that
allowed them to add images, bios, artists,
captions and upcoming events. Most
importantly all of this was achieved without
disrupting the site's ability to be
integrated and have its components
cross-referenced.
Overall the site allows for a sentimental
experience. The wispy romance of a bygone
era is coupled with the practical ability to
see these precious pieces at close range and
thus examine them at length and covet them
for a personal collection.
