he tactile nature of this artist's work eludes the traditional stark presentation for art. Growth-and-Abundance as well as Death-and-Decay are the subjects of her work. Faune tells their story through a textured archiving of the natural world around us. Each piece is not only about, but in fact drips with, the effluvia that makes up life. She forces nature to take a hand in the making of its own portrait: sun-prints, rotted paper, beewax glazes. Faune then weaves these together with an innocent handi-craft from another era. She is the curious 19th-century collector gathering interesting specimens from her garden, capturing botany in needle-point and cottage craft.

A presentation of her work laminated on boards in the pristine book of a portfolio seems discordant, and yet if her work is displayed on the self-same decrepit materials with which it is made, the pieces lose their autonomy. The balance is found in the mini-CD we created for her. Nature is allowed to set the stage and provides the textured introduction needed, but Faune's work is individually pulled out and highlighted.

The viewer can choose between a "slide show" and the individual exploration of each of her objets d'art. We have successfully created a lush atmosphere that mirrors Faune's work without dominating it. From the moment the CD is in inserted, her interests and aesthetic are being revealed. It is a seamless presentation of her art in an environment that is anything but antiseptic and dissonant.

This is a Flash-based self-executable file on a business card CD-ROM. The Flash file is divided up into smaller units for the detail zoom-ins and informational panels. These individual swfs are loaded on demand. This keeps the piece performing smoothly, without large amounts of data being constantly churned by the computer's processor.

It has an auto-start feature for PC users.
